Review by Michael Parks

The 909 Boyz's self-titled album "909 Boyz" is a solid example of West Coast gangsta rap. The album features 14 tracks, all of which have a similar sound and feel. The beats are heavy and the lyrics are aggressive, making for an intense listening experience.

The album's standout tracks include "Gangsta Shit" and "Pimpin' Ain't Easy." Both songs showcase the group's raw energy and tough attitude. The production on the album is also impressive, with a mix of classic G-funk and modern trap beats.

However, the album does suffer from a lack of variety. The songs all blend together, making it difficult to distinguish one from the other. Additionally, the lyrics can be repetitive at times, with many of the tracks focusing solely on street life and gang culture.

About 909 Boyz

The 909 Boyz were a Southern California hip-hop group based out of the Inland Empire from the city of Banning. Prior to the group forming, the Banning-based hip-hop artist Emil ""/"" Kincey had made a name for himself locally recording mixtapes around the late 1980's/early 1990's. His notoriety caught the attention of another aspiring artist Rozano "" Falls. The two connected together in hopes of recording music. Two other locals artists, Ozine "" Matthews and Marcus "" Best, began collaborating with Freeze (who would be later known as "E") and Seo-Loc, where they started recording homemade mixtapes rapping over instrumentals and making a name for themselves performing at local house parties. The newly formed four-man crew eventually became known as the 909 Boyz, and released their first single in 1997 "" with help from group member Freeze who established the record label . The group managed to sell copies of their cassette tape single and built momentum to release a full-length album in the year 2000 titled "". They have performed at many local hip-hop shows across the west coast from Palm Springs, California to Portland, Oregon, opening for hip-hop acts such as DJ Quik, Suga Free, The 2 Live Crew, and others. The group released a second album, , before splitting apart. However group members Seo Loc and E collaborated to form the group and released their own album in 2004. Seo Loc continued to record hip-hop records, this time as a solo artist, with his debut album Da Park in 2010 and a follow up Bangtown Project in 2017.

I remember this case like yesterday the very first snippet of this track for 45 seconds at 2:41 on baydog187's ebay auction who had that tape for 900 dead presidents when every snippet of this tape was blasting and hypnotizing like mf with such a hard g-funk unheard material at that time. Do you remember these high times when lot of these greatest impossible to find g-funk tapes from local groups were popping on and on? When you could easily miss an auction of them dope supplied folks for lot of indie random g-funk items knowing you will catch on next week because the process of digging and selling was a non-stop hustle. When you had so many of them opened links not knowing what link is bumpin that dope sound from snippets blastin automaticly. 999wayz, Baydog187 and 12manrambo gave so much of this game for peeps. Last two of them had the best descriptions ever. That was the dopest give it up for newbies and old timers. And what we got today. Private collections for private scene collections. If I'm correct on a subject, we have seen a lot of baydog187 collection leaked in favour of warez members or their affiliates. This is the reason why we are able to find this online, for sure not without respect of tkvsevolod with give it up. To clear for those who keep wondering first time, baydog187 has an old youtube channel CRiMELiFE211 to give you a clue how it worked and how we as a usual mortal folks were striving to win/buy off these auctions to put our hands on these dope full lenth scarce releases.
