- The SAZ (persian word for "instrument") is a long handled lute that ranks among the oldest instruments of the world. Fossilised remains of it have been found in the 9000 year old city of Çatal Hüyük. According to the regions it is called Baglama, Bozouk, Kopuz or Tenbur in Kurdistan.
