Notes

  • 80's reissue on Brasidisc / Rarity. It was issued in the early fall (most likely October) 1965 in the U.S.
  • The text on the cover above the photographs has an error as it reads “This is the…The Savage Young Beatles.” The double usage of the word “the” was never corrected on any authentic copies.
  • The back cover design included liner notes with 2 incorrect pieces of information. First it mentions that the album contains two of The Beatles first instrumentals when “Cry For A Shadow” is the only instrumental on the record. Secondly, it refers to Pete Best’s singing, and Pete does not sing on this record at all.
  • Titled "The Beatles / Savage" on center labels.
  • Tony Sheridan only mentioned on front cover footnotes, as "And T. Sheridan", along with track titles.

British rock/pop group, formed in Liverpool, England during the late 1950s. Signed a recording contract with EMI in 1962. The lineup (1962-70) comprised John Lennon (vocals, guitar, harmonica, keyboards), Paul McCartney (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion), George Harrison (guitar, vocals, sitar), and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals, percussion). In 1961, Stuart Sutcliffe (bass) and Pete Best (drums) were also members. Following an initial period as a straightforward Mersey-beat group, later recordings saw them experiment with psychedelia, incorporating innovative production techniques involving tape loops and other effects. Despite the group splitting in 1970, their record company has continued to release special products. Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 (Group). By 2015, all four members were inducted also as individual solo artists.

I could swear I've heard a version somewhere of When The Saints go Marching In with just the Beatles singing. Does anybody know? Maybe it was just something I heard in one of the movies about them, like Backbeat, Birth Of The Beatles or In His Life.

A gravadora Polydor (Alemanha) nas primeiras gravações com o inglês Tony Sheridan não costumava colocar no selo dos seus discos o nome verdadeiro das bandas de acompanhamento. "Preferia" usar um nome de fantasia: "The Beat Brothers". E assim aconteceu nas gravações feitas quando o acompanhamento ficou a cargo de The Beatles, The Starliters (aquele grupo que acompanhava o americano Joey Dee), por exemplos. "Ready Teddy" com Tony Sheridan tem como acompanhante, claro, "The Beat Brothers"; mas, neste caso, não é The Beatles. The Beatles só acompanharam Tony Sheridan nas faixas "My Bonnie"; "(When)The Saints (go marchin' in)"; "Sweet Georgia Brown"; "If You love me Baby (Take some Insurance on Me Baby)"; "Nobody's Child"; '"Why (can't You love me again)"; e na versão de "Sweet Georgia Brown" (com a presença também do músico Roy Young) que se encontra no LP "The Beatles in Hamburg".

I have this 45 record promo copy from mgm on ebay right now. Its listed for $200. Fisherman 453. Try and find it and get a bid in, these are exceedingly rare, and i found it in box at the dump and it should go to a nice Beatles fan who will appreciate it
