Born Again Pagans by Coil vs ELpH is a unique and experimental album that showcases the talents of two legendary experimental music acts. - The official title is only printed on the inside of the tray insert next to the hinge. The original jewel case has a clear tray allowing the actual title to be seen. It is often overlooked and the album is frequently referred to as "Protection" (after the first track), or simply "Coil vs. Elph".
- Some copies of the tray have "Patent Pending 184" moulded into it.
- Track 1 original recording written & produced 1992 ev. Additional recording and programming Oct 1994 ev. Listed as being from "Taken from the forthcoming double compilation CD 'The Sound of Music' (Threshold House Records - Due Spring 1995)", which was never released.
- Tracks 2 to 4 recorded at Slut's Hole Studio, Autumn Equinox 1994 ev and are Sidereal Sound™ recordings.

About Coil vs ELpH
Formed in London in 1983 by as a solo side project to Psychic TV, Coil developed into a full-scale musical group in 1984, when Balance cemented a partnership with Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. Christopherson had been a founder of Psychic TV and member of Throbbing Gristle.
John Balance (19622004) died tragically in an accident at his home on November 13th, 2004.
Peter Christopherson decided that, with the passing of John Balance, Coil would not continue.
Peter Martin Christopherson died 25 November 2010 (aged 55).

Its interesting how much 90s stuff by them pre Astral Disaster/Musick still had a distinct "Rave" sound to it
Where did this one come from ? I think I’d at least heard a few of the titles uploaded on this channel, but never the songs themselves. And I have two questions - one out of pure ignorance and the other personal - who is ELpH ? Are they a pseudonym for Coil or other musicians from their circle ? (David Tibet, maybe ?). Second question is are you Coil’s personal archivist ? The quantity of material you have by a band that’s literally been dead for years is astonishing. That first track was good and funky and then things quickly turn strange. I’m going to like this one :)
RIP Mike Lowey who introduced me to this track shortly after it was released. Played the EP on on his $50k audiophile rig... as we did a bonghit and a whiff of nitrous... ?? ?
