This sounds like The Ramones copied The Fish "N' Chips version by calling it Glad To See You Go.

The organ might have been a Gibson portable organ (similar to Farfisa). Ray Manzarek of the Doors used a Gibson and got some wild sounds out of it. Listen to 'Alabama Song'

Fish 'N Chips (AKA Fish And Chips) were from Bergen County, NJ. The frontman/lead vocalist was Bruce Hering (nickname "Fish") from Northvale - an NVOT '65 graduate. Other members were Pete Triggiani (Dumont), lead guitar, Steve Mann (Bergenfield), rhythm guitar, Rich Kleckner (Bergenfield), bass guitar and Don Swicker (Bergenfield), drums.

Your sister dated Steve Martin!
Get your facts straight.
Dantr51's sister dated these very big stars from
New Jersey.
They were bigger than the Beatles.
They even played with Dino, Desi and Paul.
Before that they were roadies for the Knickerbockers.
And they maintained the shoes and sneakers of
Frankie Valle's famous group the Guess Who.
They were very bad guys, always dating someone's
sister or telling dirty jokes to the young people.
Once they were arrested for posing as priests.
That's wrong.

Okay fntime, check your facts...and btw...my sister was a model in the 60's...he went to school in the next town from us...I have pictures of him at our house...wake up and get your fantasy jollies on another page...Oh and btw...Leslie Gore was a neighbor and classmate of my sister....

OK...but it was in the same neck of the woods. Northvale and Tappan are close enough to each other that most people couldn't tell one from another back then. My band used to do Saturday gigs at Northern Valley Swim Club during the summer of '63 and we'd got lost half the times going up there from Bergenfield.

It was out in 1965 and they weer from Jersey.

Bruce Herring (Fish) was from Tappan...the rest from Bergenfield.

What you are hearing is mainly a multi-track of 12 string guitar and harpsichord.

They were from Bergen County New Jersey and had a steady Saturday afternoon gig at Palisades Amusement Park with Cousin Brucie during the Summer of '65 when this record was on the Top 40 of the New York City AM stations.. My brother Rich played bass and back up vocals.

to Dant51: Bruce Herring- I think I herd of him...was he in the Stampeders out of Canada? Did he look like a fish?

maanialexis
i hear so many sounds in just one song. its like a kaliedescope of craziness, a wonderama of amazement, a calico cacophony of complex african rhythms and anglo saxon linguistic creativity....."my heart was beating 4x faster like it never did b4-or-or-or-or-or-or a 1, a 2, a 3, a 4x faster!!! I wonder if John Lennon or Bob Dylan ghost wrote this song for the Fish and Chips??? Does anybody know if they did?....
inknbubbles
