Frazer Smith And The Malibu Mudhens - Cool Patrol

Review by Alessandro Giannini

Cool Patrol, the latest album by Frazer Smith And The Malibu Mudhens, is a refreshing and fun addition to the rock and roll scene. The band's unique blend of classic rock, blues, and funk is evident in every track, making the album a must-listen for fans of these genres.

The album kicks off with the energetic and catchy title track "Cool Patrol," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Frazer Smith's powerful vocals and the band's tight instrumentation create an infectious sound that will have listeners tapping their feet and singing along.

Other standout tracks include "Ride or Die," a bluesy number with a killer guitar solo, and "Funky Town," a groovy tune that showcases the band's funk influences. The album also features a cover of the classic rock song "Born to Be Wild," which the band puts their own spin on.

Cool! Someone just reminded me of this, and I had to see if it was on YT! Thanks for helping me relive my memory! Frazer Smith is sorely missed!

Oh, and SchmedleyDouchebag can kiss my ass. No one ever suggested Frazer Smith or KLOS "had the pulse on the 'edginess' of L.A." or whatever. Yes, there was plenty of coke running around (probably still is), and yes, KLOS was corporate radio LONG before Frazer or the Surf Punks' song. But this was fun times had by the people who lived & loved rock & roll in the 70s & 80s.

For your information, this song was written for a "famous at the time" KROQ DJ named Frasier Smith. Drew Steele and Dennis Dragon of the surf punks wrote the song, not Tony Creed. Dennis and Drew also performed this song live at the Universal Amphitheater under the name of "The Dumb Blondes" which included the guitar player from X (Billy Zoom)!!

I remember this song, way back in the day. This was part of the morning radio show DJ Frazer Smith. Something in the time frame of 1979.
