Herman Brood & His Wild Romance - Herman Brood

Review by Ahmed Sharif

Herman Brood's self-titled album, released in 1978 with his band, the Wild Romance, is a classic rock and roll masterpiece that captures the raw energy and charisma of the Dutch musician. The album features tracks that are both rebellious and introspective, showcasing Brood's diverse range of musical talents.

The album's opening track, "Street," sets the tone with its driving beat and Brood's raspy vocals. The track is followed by the upbeat and catchy "Turn It On," which features Brood's signature piano playing. Other standout tracks include the bluesy "Dope Sucks" and the melancholy ballad "Still Believe."

Throughout the album, Brood's lyrics are both poetic and provocative, addressing themes of love, addiction, and the struggles of being an artist. The Wild Romance's tight instrumentation and backing vocals provide the perfect accompaniment to Brood's dynamic performances.

Powerful material! So many great songs, such a great band, almost unknown in the US. Those of us who were familiar with Herman Brood couldn't get enough of the guy...and still can't!

Remember hearing this only once in 79, and never forgetting it. Think it was on Casey Kasams top 40 countdown. Great song in what was a great year of music.

Jedes Jahr zu Weihnachten - mindestens fünf mal, und auch sonst.... Herman: " ....i miss you too..."
Sometimes on Stage it was really bad, because "he's waiting for his man..." . I've seen many Gigs (at Christmas), and we play with our Band two times in Gelsenkirchen/ Germany where the Wild Romance was the Top Act. Must be in the middle of the 80's. It was a very cool time, and i am proud to survive it - today I sit on the Sofa and watch TV and be proud to find the toilet by myself. I buy a guitar a week ago and try again the best thing I ever know: to rock'n roll (like a burning rabbit)....
