Jarvis Cocker - The Black Sessions

Review by Jude Ikor

The Black Sessions, the third album by Jarvis Cocker, is a masterful exploration of the darker side of life. Released in 2012, the album features ten tracks that showcase Cocker's unique blend of wit and wisdom.

From the haunting opening track "I Found Myself Looking for God" to the melancholic "Must I Evolve?" and the reflective "Quantum Theory," The Black Sessions takes the listener on a journey through the complexities of human existence. Cocker's lyrics are as sharp as ever, exploring themes of mortality, love, and the search for meaning.

Musically, The Black Sessions is a departure from Cocker's previous work with Pulp. The album is more experimental, with electronic elements and atmospheric soundscapes that create a sense of unease and tension. The production is top-notch, with each track carefully crafted to create a cohesive listening experience.
