Review by Lars Sonic Seime

Hoosiers is a soundtrack album by the renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith, released in 1987. The album features the music that Goldsmith composed for the sports drama film of the same name, which starred Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper.

The album opens with the track "Theme from Hoosiers," a rousing and uplifting melody that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Goldsmith's use of brass and percussion instruments gives the music a triumphant and energetic feel, perfectly capturing the spirit of the film.

The album also features several other memorable tracks, such as "The Team" and "First Practice," which showcase Goldsmith's ability to create music that perfectly captures the emotions of the characters on screen. The use of piano and strings in these tracks creates a sense of nostalgia and longing, while the use of drums and percussion adds a sense of urgency and excitement.

“Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: TEAM. TEAM. TEAM. No one more important than the other. Pop the ball! Pop it!”

The Hoosier gym in Knightstown Indiana is incredible if you have the time, it is where they filmed the home games. Its a living museum and you can shoot hoops there as well

This song reminds me of living on a farm growing up. Hay fields and fields miles you can see in Kansas.

When the basketball team of my old high school went to the class 3-A semi-state, they played this movie all day long on the closed circuit TV at school the day before the game.

For some reason, this soundtrack reminds me not only of Indiana basketball, but of every other sport-football, cross country, soccer, baseball etc...This would be a great soundtrack for any film about high school sports in The Hoosier State.
