Review by Mandy Qualls

Someday Soon, the latest album by Kathy Barnes, is a must-listen for fans of country music. The album features 10 tracks that showcase Barnes' impressive vocal range and songwriting skills. The album's title track, "Someday Soon," is a standout with its catchy melody and relatable lyrics about chasing dreams and taking risks.

Barnes' voice is warm and inviting, and she infuses each song with emotion and sincerity. "Goodbye My Love" is a heartbreaking ballad that will tug at listeners' heartstrings, while "Road to Redemption" is an upbeat track that will have listeners tapping their feet and singing along.

The album's production is top-notch, with each instrument and vocal track blending seamlessly together. The mix of traditional country instruments like the steel guitar and fiddle with modern production techniques creates a fresh sound that will appeal to both traditional and contemporary country fans.

She certainly sang well and had a cute country flavored style.  It's interesting to me that many very proficient performers don't always "reach the top" of the charts but keep in mind that doesn't lessen their talent.  Some singers who aren't necessarily as musically gifted have perhaps achieved a higher level of 'star' status but that's just the nature of the often fickle Music industry.

I once heard that Kathy Barnes had an Album titled "I started living today" on MGM but it had a very limited release.

The Kathy Barnes version of Someday Soon is my favorite, by far. Suzie is a good singer, for sure, but her version was wimpy and too folky for my taste; no energy at all! Moe Bandy's version should have been destroyed! It's a girl's song! Opinions....we all have them!

Its a good version. I think Glen Campbell's versions is best, though

Suzy’s excellent studio version was released 22 years after Judy Collins scores her sophomore hit with this song (“Both Sides Now “). This evening I have surveyed 20 or more covers of “Someday Soon” after reading commentators’ opinions as to “who sang it best?”, many preferring Suzy’s over all others. I can confirm that there are many weak, pathetic, even unlistenable versions on YouTube. Personally, as I have opined here and elsewhere this evening, I think Judy’s single edges out Suzy’s because Judy’s backup band outshines every other arrangement I’ve heard tonight. After Judy’s and Suzy’s recordings, I give high marks to Crystal Gale’s vocal stylings on her version; ditto for Glen Campbell’s superb vocal (but his instrumental backup, in which for some unfathomable reason he doesn’t bless us with one of his elegant virtuoso guitar solos, disappointed me—but his extraordinary voice makes this a favorite version); this version by Kathy Barnes stands out; and Lynne Anderson is clearly at home with this song, above all in this live arrangement Someday Soon https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwnezdff54I She, Glen, and Crystal use their country voice-cracking skills to subtly enhance the emotional impact.
. Among the most disappointing takes I endured were by Johnny Cash and the Kingston Trio

This was the first version I ever heard of this song, though Moe Bandy did it later on, as did Suzy Bogguss. And Lynn Anderson has it on at least two of her albums and frequently sings it in concert. Look at my user name and you'll understand why I like Lynn's version best! :)

This song was writen by Ian Tyson back in the 60's.

In the late 1970s, she made a very weird disco album, posing nude on the cover. That seemed to bring her career to an end. Not sure if that was her choice or not
