Review by Zunzarren Denis

Il Viaggio A Reims is a masterful album that showcases the incredible talents of some of the most celebrated classical musicians of our time. Featuring performances by Katia Ricciarelli, Lucia Valentini Terrani, Lella Cuberli, Cecilia Gasdia, Francisco Araiza, Leo Nucci, Ruggero Raimondi, Samuel Ramey, Enzo Dara, the Prague Philharmonic Chorus, The Chamber Orchestra Of Europe, and conducted by Claudio Abbado, this album presents a stunning interpretation of Gioacchino Rossini's opera.

From the opening bars of the overture, the listener is swept away by the rich, lush sound of the orchestra, expertly led by Abbado. The vocal performances are equally impressive, with each soloist bringing their own unique style and interpretation to their respective roles. Ricciarelli's soprano voice soars effortlessly, while Terrani's mezzo-soprano adds a haunting depth to the ensemble. Cuberli's bright and clear soprano is a perfect foil to Gasdia's warm and expressive mezzo-soprano, and Araiza's tenor voice adds a touch of brilliance to the proceedings. Nucci's baritone is rich and full, while Raimondi's bass is commanding and powerful. Ramey's bass-baritone is equally impressive, and Dara's bass rounds out the ensemble with his warm and resonant voice.

Throughout the album, the Prague Philharmonic Chorus and The Chamber Orchestra Of Europe provide a solid foundation for the soloists, with their expertly executed performances adding depth and texture to the music. Abbado's conducting is masterful, bringing out the best in the orchestra and soloists alike.
