The album Happy Birthday Marshall by Marshall Allen, Danny Ray Thompson, Sabir Mateen, Jackson Krall, Adam Lane, Nick Gianni, and Jeffrey Hayden Shurdut is a must-listen for avant-garde jazz enthusiasts. The album is a tribute to Marshall Allen, the legendary saxophonist who turned 95 years old in 2019, and features a stellar line-up of musicians who have collaborated with Allen over the years.

The musicians then launch into a series of free-flowing improvisations that showcase their individual talents while paying tribute to Allen's unique style. The music is experimental and challenging, but also playful and fun.
