Barcode: 029667235129About Marv Johnson
American R&B singer, songwriter and pianist.
He was influential in the development of the Motown style of music, primarily for the song Come to Me, which was the first record issued by Tamla Records, the precursor to the famous label. Despite his early success in the United States, Johnson ultimately enjoyed more popularity overseas than in his native country. His music was especially popular in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Damn! This song is infectious. Can't get it out of my head. My feet are dancing, even as I'm sitting down.
Where have I been? I grew up in Detroit, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. & a Motown fan from the start and never heard this song before! Great Jam, Thanks for posting!

Marv Johnson - I Miss You Baby 8 weeks in the UK charts reaching number 25 on Oct 25th 1969.
Marv could wail with the best of 'em! He knew how to work that voice of his to pull the emotion out of a song!
Thanks Tomovox just brilliant!! What I would give for one more all-nighter at the Scene Club London circa '65....
Great song, KOKO.
This is why I should have been born in England! Hearing about the Northern Soul scene and clubs, I keep thinking of all the fun I could have had, instead of going with my friends to the lame clubs here, lol!
tigger123447 : Greatpost & comment tomovox. You know your stuff!

Makes me proud to be a Motowner in every way!! Loved Motown then, love it now.
I LOVE MOTOWN!
@BAREBACKER Couldn't agree with you more! This is when Tamla Motown's sound was incredibly hot!
Marv Johnson passed away on this day in 1993 {May 16th} at the young age of 54...
May he R.I.P.
May he R.I.P.
It doesnt get any better than this!! The true sound of TAMLA MOTOWN
@mattforte192 Oh, are you in for a real treat! When you get that Motown anthology, I guarantee you'll be astonished at the quality of the unreleased tracks and you'll find yourself wondering why this man was so woefully kept in the shadows. There are some ravers- "Let's Talk It Over," "So Glad You Chose Me" and some amazingly beautiful songs- "She's All I Need (In The World)" and "There Goes A Lonely Man." I'm so happy you've plugged into Marv- I know I was hooked instantly!
