About Rita Lee
Brazilian band founder with and in 1966. The band released five albums between 1968 and 1972. In that time, Lee had also released her first two solo works, although these records were produced with fellow members of Os Mutantes. In 1973 she played briefly with as , although there are no know recordings by the duo they did play on the Festival. Between 1974 and 1978 she released four albums with the backing band . From 1979 on she released a string of albums credited to herself or as the duo with her husband . She retired from live shows and studio recordings after the release of the album in 2012.

Rita Lee fut un membre, que dis-je, un pilier, du legendaire groupe Tropicalia Os Mutantes. Elle quitte la formation en 1972 pour se lancer dans une carriere solo et sortir son second album personnel, Hoje e o Primeiro Dia do Resto da Sua Vida (1972). En 1970, elle avait deja realise un premier album, Build Up, alors qu'elle etait encore membre d'Os Mutantes. Cela peut paraitre un peu complique mais a bien suivre les discographies d'Os Mutantes et de Rita Lee, on s'y retrouve. Hoje e o Primeiro Dia do Resto da Sua Vida est un album estampille Os Mutantes tant au niveau des compositions, ou se trouvent Arnaldo Baptista et Sergio Dias mais aussi Arnolpho Lima (Liminha), que de l'esprit general, un melange un peu foutraque de compositions a l'esprit Tropicalia/psychedelique et de titres pre-Boggie qui seront la marque de fabrique de Rita Lee dans ses albums annees 70 (Fruto Proibido - 1975). Entre experimentation et esprit de derision. Un peu bancal, mais sympathique
