Review by Stefanie Low

Country Comforts/Gasoline Alley, the second album by Rod Stewart, was released in 1970 and is still considered a classic in the genre of folk rock. The album features Stewart's signature raspy vocals and a mix of original compositions and covers.

One standout track is the title track "Gasoline Alley," a nostalgic tribute to Stewart's childhood in London. The song features a memorable guitar riff and Stewart's emotive delivery. Another highlight is "Cut Across Shorty," a cover of a rockabilly classic that showcases Stewart's ability to infuse his own style into a traditional song.

The album also includes several ballads, such as "Only a Hobo" and "My Way of Giving," which demonstrate Stewart's versatility as a singer. The album's closing track, a cover of Bob Dylan's "Only a Hobo," is particularly poignant with its message of empathy for the less fortunate.
