Sharon Jones' album, "I'm Gonna Get Ya," is a soulful and energetic collection of tracks that showcase her powerful voice and the tight instrumentation of her backing band, the Dap-Kings. From the opening track, "How Long Do I Have to Wait For You," Jones and company lay down a groove that is impossible to resist. The album is filled with funky, danceable tunes like "Stranded in Your Love" and "My Man Is a Mean Man," as well as more introspective numbers like "All Over Again" and "Answer Me." Throughout the record, Jones' vocals are a force to be reckoned with, and her ability to convey emotion through her singing is truly impressive. The Dap-Kings provide a solid foundation for her voice, with tight horns, funky guitar riffs, and a driving rhythm section. "I'm Gonna Get Ya" is an excellent showcase for Sharon Jones' talents as a singer and performer, and a must-listen for fans of classic soul and funk music.
