Review by Jennifer Smith

The album Forward The Guards March Avondale March by St Hilda Colliery Band is a fantastic piece of work that showcases the band's musical prowess and talent. The album is a collection of traditional brass band pieces that are played with precision and passion.

The album opens with the title track, Forward The Guards March, which immediately sets the tone for the rest of the album. The band's sound is big and bold, with a strong emphasis on the brass section. The Avondale March is another standout track, with its soaring melodies and intricate harmonies.

The album also features several slower, more introspective pieces, such as the beautiful arrangement of the traditional hymn Abide With Me. The band's interpretation of this classic piece is haunting and emotional, with the brass section providing a rich, warm sound that perfectly complements the vocals.
