'Understanding is Sorrow' sounds vaguely familiar, like I heard it 50 years ago or something.
Good tune!
Good tune!
Understanding Is Sorrow is a remarkable song.
@bobby becker can you tell me more about Mike Lehman? Did he live at 15 Ellis Ave. in Kitchener? If so, I live in his family's old home. I've met them and they are really nice people.
@oatstao All the Yukon records were on Sussex (Ampex in Canada)--
Understanding is Sorrow is a great song. My local am radio station gave their cover of "Gotta Get a Message to You" a lot of air play back when it first came out. I loved their version of it. Up until your update, I wondered if I had my facts right because I haven't heard it since then. I'm wondering if anyone has it to upload. Sure would be nice to hear it again
@munchmebig was this on Sussex also?
Just an update--I forgot about the Other single--A song called A message b/w I Gotta get A Message to You--an arrangement of the Bee Gees classic- released in 1971----
@munchmebig Thanks for the valuable Info Bobby. !! glad to hear you are still into your art. I'm in Canada too, grew up near Detroit in Ontario, but I live on Vancouver Island now. I'm a musician too. So that clears up tons about the music...The T.Orlando/Dawn connection is very interesting! I thought they were a florida outfit! haha (the orlando thing I guess haha) Good job on the music and it's appreciated by many now and from comments those CKLW listeners (i was one as a kid)
Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore produced the records--actually--the music tracks were recorded by the Funk Brothers --Sussex was the label and they were anxious to get a record out ASAP--The members of Yukon did all of the vocals along with Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilson from Tony Orlando and Dawn--- on this first release which reached #73 on the Billboard charts that summer--We recorded 1 more single -Falllen Angel and Flying Machine My name-Bobby Becker--I live in Canada--I still play
