Soul - rhythm n' blues singer Born on 21 June 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama. She started singing in gospel groups like Hayes Ensemble and . After entering a talent show in Chicago, 1959 of offered her a record contract. was her main producer while she was at . Her biggest hit was with her single "I'm Your Part Time Love" a Top 20 hit in 1963. In 1968 she left for 's . In 1971 she developed polyps on her vocal cords losing her singing voice, and gave up her secular music career. Later she started a gospel career recording religious music albums and keeping herself busy with activities around her strong christian beliefs.
