This reminded me that I had sinking feeling to go to my piano lesson where he used to say "Etudes must be performed 100% reliablly!" for my exam preparation...
I have J.Lennon ;) and M.Babyton's recordings as well. I compared all in Spotify and found E.Parkin's Channdos (not Lyrita) recording the best. This one suffers the audio quality but given the circumstances, it is a fine archive recording.

I really believe that recording a piece in one take is the best thing to do, because it brings unity and comes closest to the experience of a concert performance. The feeling of despair after another unsuccessful attempt can be very distressful, but in the end it's worth it. Rowlands did a really great job with this piece, as far as I can judge...it's a powerful performance, played with great passion but still in control of things.
Lovely piece, luminous playing! I don't know much of Ireland's piano works other than the piano concertos, so thanks for the introduction. The accompanying visuals seemed most appropriate too!
