Antithesis, the fourth album by German black metal band Secrets of the Moon, is a tour de force of dark, atmospheric music. From the opening notes of "Nowhere" to the closing strains of "Ghost," the album is a haunting and intense journey through the depths of the human psyche.

The band's musicianship is impeccable, with intricate guitar riffs, thundering drums, and atmospheric keyboards all combining to create a dense and immersive sound. Vocalist sG delivers a powerful and emotive performance, his raspy growls and clean singing perfectly capturing the album's themes of despair, isolation, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world.

Awww. Among the genre's most renowned acts (Ondskapt, Watain, Deathspell Omega), Germany's Secrets of the Moon are one of the most uninspired bands. Their sound is one of the most evident, unoriginal and mediocre proposal of Metallica/post-Gorgoroth Groove/Black Metal to have ever been commercialized in the new millennium. Expect absolutely nothing new in the band's third album Antithesis, except D tuning: for the rest, the band's riff choice immediately recalls contemporary Metalcore acts (Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, even Obituary) filtered with Metallica-like distortion, while the open-chord riffs recall also Shining and Forgotten Tomb. The songs are based over simple, unelaborated arrangements that don't show any trace of genius in the songwriting. Though the album frequently employs slow rhythms, the harmonies are flat and power-chord driven, and no production effect is capable of making such a mediocre release more interesting. Newcomers are advised that the band's surrounding offerings aren't that much worthwhile.Highlights: "Ordinance".
