Bolan's Zip Gun, the seventh studio album by T Rex, has been hailed as a masterpiece by critics and fans alike. Released in 1975, the album marked a departure from the glam rock sound that had made T Rex famous and instead showcased a more experimental, edgy sound that was ahead of its time.

The album's opening track, "Light of Love," sets the tone for what's to come with its driving beat and soaring vocals. Bolan's lyrics are poetic and often cryptic, but they're delivered with such conviction and passion that they resonate with listeners. "Solid Baby" is another standout track, with its funky bassline and catchy chorus.

Bolan's Zip Gun is full of surprises, with each track offering something new and exciting. "Space Boss" is a spacey, psychedelic trip that showcases Bolan's unique guitar playing, while "Think Zinc" is a funky, danceable tune that's impossible not to move to.

Bolan's Zip Gun is a must-listen for any T Rex fan or anyone who appreciates innovative, genre-defying music. It's a testament to Bolan's talent as a songwriter and musician, and it still sounds fresh and relevant today.

Perhaps the album that confirmed, for those who wanted Bolan to continue turning out albums like Electric Warrior and The Slider, that he had lost his creative drive. The critics panned on its initial release and the wonderful Light of Love single was his first since By The Light of The Magical Moon not the crack the Top 20. Now reappraised - and, apparently, played by black music radio stations in the US - Bolan's Zip Gun shows that he had moved on but that people were not listienng, or, at least, not listening properly. With a tight, stripped down production, prominent clavinet and backing vocals from Gloria Jones, this is an excellent album which, quite probably, sounds far better now that it did 45 years ago. Packed with great songs which virtually comprise one long love letter to Gloria Jones , in his new 'interstellar soul' style, stand-out tracks include Sold Baby, Token of My Love, Precious Star, Space Boss, Think Zinc - which could have been a single - and the wonderful I Really Love You Babe. Bolan was badly served by the media and fans in the 70s but is better appreciated now. He never really fell far creatively and this is a very good album by any standards

Painful. I heard this at the time on the radio and thought it was awful and I still do. Could not understand how someone once so brilliant with tracks like 'Get it on' and 'Metal Guru' could sink so low.

I remember being a bit embarrassed by this back in the day..... and someone at school thought it was called Sidcup Boogie! I think all it needed was a good mix and some production magic but Marc didn't want to sound the same as before. Love Bolan's Zip Gun and his Light Of Love USA album.
