Review by Thun Htet

The album "The Song Two Sentimental Romances Ithaca" by Wilhelm Stenhammar is a beautiful and emotional collection of songs that showcases the composer's talent for creating poignant melodies and evocative harmonies. The album features two main pieces, "Two Sentimental Romances" and "Ithaca," both of which are performed with great sensitivity and skill by the musicians on the recording.

The first piece, "Two Sentimental Romances," is a set of two songs that are both tender and melancholic in nature. The first song, "The Nightingale," features a haunting melody that is expertly woven into a lush and intricate orchestration. The second song, "The Rose," is similarly touching, with a delicate and expressive vocal performance that perfectly captures the bittersweet tone of the lyrics.

The second piece, "Ithaca," is a longer and more complex work that explores a range of emotions and moods. From the mournful opening theme to the triumphant and uplifting finale, this piece is a masterful example of Stenhammar's compositional prowess. The musicians on the recording bring a great deal of nuance and depth to their performances, creating a truly moving listening experience.
