Review by Mick Bassett

Silent Invasion's album, The Picturesque Decay, is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece that takes listeners on a journey through a world of darkness and despair. The band's unique blend of post-punk and shoegaze creates an atmospheric and immersive experience that is both captivating and thought-provoking.

The album opens with the track "The Lament of the Lost," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its melancholic melody and haunting vocals. Throughout the album, the band explores themes of isolation, despair, and the decay of society, all while delivering powerful and emotionally charged performances.

The standout tracks on the album include "Echoes of the Past," a brooding and atmospheric piece that showcases the band's talent for creating dense and layered soundscapes, and "Fading Memories," a hauntingly beautiful track that features ethereal vocals and a driving rhythm section.

About Silent Invasion

Silent Invasion were a duo from Aachen, Germany. The were active in the late 80s-early 90s. Previous to their only album on Danse Macabre they released at least half a dozen cassette tapes only given to personal friends. Their only live performance was held in Club Ritz in Aachen around 1990. Their music was quite skillfully produced and oscillated between dark, even aggressive electro and some more synth pop style songs, all delivered with a quite comvincing vocal performance. The lyrics were often influenced by Stephen King books and film adaptions. All in all it's a shame they disbanded so prematurely.
